TÜHÝD – Turkish Public Relations Association
‘Altýn Pusula Public Relations Awards’
Regulations

1. Purpose

Is to specify the rules about the ‘Altýn Pusula Public Relations Awards’ organized by TÜHÝD.

2. Content

Application rules and evaluation principles of TÜHÝD Altýn Pusula Awards are specified according to these regulations. All the rules about the awards work through these regulations.

3. Responsibility

TÜHÝD Administrative Board is responsible for the preparation and updating of the regulations. Regulations become operative afterwards signed by all members of the Board. In order to make any modification in regulations, the signature of the absolute majority of the Board is needed.

4. Duty Definitions

• The Application Assessment Committee: consists of three members of Board. Its duty is to control the congruity of the applicant projects to regulations.

• Altýn Pusula Project Assistant: provides the coordination between the Application Assessment Committee and the Selector Committee. She/he is responsible for the communication with applicants.

• Select Committee: consists of jury members that will evaluate the projects. Select Committee consists of 11 members that are; the chairman of TÜHÝD, one representative from IPRA, 3 representatives from business world, 2 academicians, 2 representatives from NGO, and 2 press members. Select Committee is formed by different members every year. The Select Committee of E-Communication category consists of, one TÜHÝD representative, one press member, and 2 representatives from informatics sector.

The duty of the committee is to evaluate the projects that come from the Application Assessment Committee, within the prescribed period and assessment criterions. The Committee, specifies the prize-taker organizations and notifies them to TÜHÝD management.

Select Committee can make a pre-assessment by forming an ex-ante jury with TÜHÝD if necessary.

5. Prizes

A – Signal Reward

Signal Reward is not a category. Organizations/Agencies can not apply for
this award. If they find convenient, Selector Committee can give the Signal
Reward to one of the applicant projects. In case there would not be a project
that is worth of the prize, Selector Committee reserves the right of not giving
the prize.

B – Corporate Communication

Contains the studies oriented to generalization of corporations policies and
objectives among the workers and communication activities oriented to
intensification of workers feelings of belonging to corporation.

C – Marketing Communication

Contains all the operating public relations studies of a new or existing brand in
marketing communication content.

D – Crisis Management

Contains the crisis communication projects in order to protect the brands and/or
corporations reputation.

E – Activity Management

Contains the projects related to every kind of activity organized (inaugurations,
anniversaries, etc.)

F – Corporate Social Responsibility

Contains the projects, that contribute and add value to community. Applications
made to this category are evaluated in 5 sub categories and a prize is given for
each category.

3- Health
4- Culture&Arts
5- Other

G – E - Communication

Contains the projects in which the communication is made only via internet
(web,extranet,intranet,etc.) and evaluation is made by a different jury.

H – Projects Out of Category

Contains the projects that do not belong to the categories mentioned above
(near surroundings communications, international communication campaigns,
agenda management, investor relations).

I - Non – Governmental Organization

Contains the communication activities of non-governmental organizations

J – Public Institutions

Contains all the communication activities of public corporations and
institutions.

K – Young Communicators

Contains the communication projects created in order to ‘Increase, Consciousness of Volunteerism for Community and Volunteer Actions’.

6. Prize Criterions

Projects are evaluated on 5 basic criterions, taking into consideration the sub – titles. In order to be evaluated, project should take at least 5 points for each basic criterion and should have at least 60 points totally.

The computation process of realization of the stated goals.

7. Application Procedure

a – Applications can be made with projects,

• that are created, applied and evaluated during 2004,
• projects that started in 2003, concluded in 2004 and evaluated,
• and projects that started during 2004, not concluded but are able to be evaluated.
• Projects started during 2005 can not apply to nominations.

For the conventional projects, applications can be made for the activities that take place during the aforementioned periods.

b – Application fee is 500- YTL for every project.

c – Application forms, should be delivered to Turkish Public Relations Association centre until 17:00 pm at …………………, with the bank slip that shows the fee payment is done.

d – Application files, should be delivered to Turkish Public Relations Association centre until 17:00 pm at …………………

e – Application files, should contain the project planning, application and computation details, should be in power point format not more than 30 pages, and should be delivered in 11 copies. Visual and aural materials about project, press clippings and other materials that help projects being understood, can be presented in appendix. Furthermore, the whole file context should also be delivered as 2 copies in CD format.

f – Organizations and public relations agencies can make application to more than one category. They should fill application forms and make payment for each category.

g – TÜHÝD can publish the projects via its web site or press documents, and can share them with wider audiences.

8. Evaluation of Applications

• The Application Assessment Committee delivers technically and categorically analyzed and classified files to Select Committee Members.

• TÜHÝD Board invites Select Committee to meeting in order to make evaluation, and determines the results in accordance with the 6. issue of these regulations.

The chairman of Select Committee delivers the document that shows the
assessment results and the list of Altýn Pusula Awards winners, signed by
committee members, to TÜHÝD management.

• Select Committee has the right to not to find any project worth to prize.
• Prizes are given to project owner organization and, if there is, to its public relations agency together.

9. Declaration of the Results

The decisions of Select committee are transmitted to applicant organizations by TÜHÝD Administrative Board. Results, are announced to community in an award ceremony.
